When using UTF-8 SAS/ACCESS Interface to ODBC with certain ODBC drivers on UNIX platforms, you might encounter UTF-8 related problem behavior.

For example, database management system (DBMS) tables might be displayed in a vertically cascading manner, like this:

You might also see that foreign language characters become garbled when read into SAS.
